Watching the Giants/Dodgers game. Interesting that these two teams fighting it out in the NL West are each managed by former players of the SOX 2004 championship season, Kapler and Roberts.

Btw, after the final out was made in the 2004 WS, there's that great picture of the backs of Damon and Kapler standing next to each other in the outfield and forming the year 1918. How Twilight Zone was that?

The Giants are the only team that can come close to the Sox in 21st Century rings.

In some ways they are similar to us. Although they did lose one WS in 2002, they've won all ones they were in after 2003- same as us.

They even kinda sucked in between like we did before and after 2013.

They had a losing record, last year and the three before, something we have not done, this century. Their last ring was way back in 2014.

I'd love to see a SF-BOS WS.

Another Twilight Zone moment was the batter on the Cardinals who made the final out in the 2004 WS was wearing #3.

It may take him a while, but I'm thinking he will return to form.

Moving Perez or Richards to the pen should improve on Workman/Andriese/Rios.

Still, 5 walks in 8 IP is problematic and asking for trouble. Workman allows too many baserunners and he can't be counted on in any high leverage situation. He has no role at all in playoff baseball. He can be cut/released whenever his spot is needed, maybe when Sale is activated.

Indeed. That's the beauty of the modern playoff system--it makes it possible for more teams to go all the way even though the really good teams are still the most likely WS winners.
