Thread: Yanks get Gallo

  1. #16
Gallo is the lefty power bat the Yanks have been lacking. They would be in better shape today if they had him all year. Probably too late now.

Keeping Gallo long term makes more sense than keeping Judge long term, since Gallo has that lefty bat. But Judge is so popular with the fan base. Maybe the Yankees will sign both to long term contracts but that will cost a lot of money. Hal will be OK with resigning both players while saddled with the Cole and Stanton contracts?

Judge is far better than Gallo. But Gallo does balance out the lineup.

In 115 at-bats with the Yankees, Joey Gallo has only recorded 15 hits.

    A poor man’s Dalbec.

Don't you have to do well to do any balancing?
When you say it's gonna happen now
    When exactly do you mean?

He’ll heat up eventually. We haven’t needed much from him to this point

He may- he may not. He has been better than this over his career, but that is no guarantee.

Since becoming a Yankee, Gallo is hitting .130/.291/.325/.617 with 61 strikeouts and 28 walks. (151 PAs)

Over the same time period, Dalbec is hitting .321/.412/.702/1.115 with 25 strikeouts and 11 walks. (97 PAs)

Just to be fair: Gallo leads the league in strikeouts. But also leads the league in walks . He has 38 home runs , 13 since joining the Yankees at the deadline. He is a good outfielder with a great arm. So , it's not all negative by any means.

You don't trade a ton of prospects and hope to bring that back.
