I guess you're even more cynical than me. But this is just one more example. The money involved in US college football is unbelievable, as the Jimbo Fisher buyout thing just proved.
Championships since purchase by John Henry group: Red Sox 4 Yankees 1

The Red Sox are 8-1 in their last 9 postseason games against the Yankees.

FSU falls one slot after beating a top 15 Louisville.

Texas and AL jump several slots after beating a top 15 team.

    That's corruption.

They should have covered their ases by not having FSU in the top 4 before this past week's games.

Florida Sen. Rick Scott is demanding an investigation.

Especially after the two polls the AP, and the Coaches poll had Fla State in the top 4 also. Like I keep saying deciding who gets in by a bunch of guys in a smoke filled rm is a very flawed system, but then again college FB has always flawed. I still remember back in the day when ND jumped from 5th to ist after winning a bowl game.

Yes, that was my freshman year at ND, when ND beat #1 Texas in the Cotton Bowl. The #2, 3 and 4 teams were committed to other bowls. There were 4-5 teams that ended up with 1 loss.

It seems to be a long standing tradition that beating the number one team means more than anything else, despite the fact that that #1 team usually drops to #4 to 6.

In '73, ND beat Alabama and the polls split, because one poll did not update it's national champ after the bowl games.

    Other split championships:

2003 LSU (BCS) and USC (AP)
    Pre BCS
    1997 MI & NEB
    1991 WSH & MIA (Fla)
    1990 COL & GA Tech
    1978 Ala & USC
    1974 USC & OK

    3 teams:
1970 NEB, TEX & Ohio St
    1964 ALA, Ark, ND

    The committee members are idiots.

They should have ranked FSU 5th or 6th, before the weekend.

Bottom line - we all knew Alabama was NOT missing the playoffs and FSU was the biggest risk of being left out for non-football reasons…

If Georgia beat Alabama, The Noles still would have been out.

I get that. My point was they knew all this before this past weekend, and could have made their lives easier by dinging FSU 1-2 weeks ago, or whenever their QB got hurt.

They looked silly dinging them after beating Louisville.

A case could be made Ohio St. belongs. Their only loss was by 3 at the number 1 team's home filed.

ND gets transfer QB from Duke. It seems like the last 4 years ND has had trouble signing, and developing their own QB, and has had to go outside to get one. Buchner was supposed to being the next big thing, and he got hurt, and sucked anyway.

The QB position should be the one position ND should recruit well. Generally, they are smarter and can meet the high entrance standards at ND. The QB also knows he will be on national TV, every weekend.

Riley Leonard was a projected to be a first round pick before he hurt his ankle and it sidetracked his season.

Also, developing QBs in college is easier said than done. It’s a new era and almost every star QB who’s on a playoff contender is a transfer.

Jayden Daniels, Michael Penix and Bo Nix all competed for heisman this year, all were transfer QBs. As were Jalen Hurts, Joe Burrow, Caleb Williams, Quinn Ewers, Kyler Murray, and many others.

Also, Notre Dame in 2025 has one of the best QB prospects in the nation coming, and he’s been recruiting many other high level recruits, giving Notre Dame one of best recruiting classes for that year.

    Good news!

It's been a long time since the last championship.
