Ken Waldichuk is looking more and more like a fucking steal. Guy is unhittable. 23.2IP 10H 3ER 9BB 40K. He's lefty, throws a wicked breaking ball and tops out high 90s. I am wondering if he ends up being akin to Hader or King, multi inning weapons deployed in middle relief.

Medina has shown the same level of maddening inconsistency. Might be time to move him to the pen. Tops out at 103, slider is nasty. And they are running out of time with him as he is on his final option

Dominguez has started to hit. .272/.360/.477 last 10 games. 19 year old kid hopefully turning a corner

Anthony Garcia is interesting. 25 walks in 22 games. 6 bombs, .963 OPS, but 31K in 22 games as well.

Volpe has been struggling, although the power and speed has been coming along.

Wells has been hitting very well in High A. .944OPS 4 bombs, 8 steals.

Dominguez is heating up. OPS now over .800 after a dreadful April. He's taking walks, hitting for power, stealing bases. Finally showing his 5 tool potential. May slash line of .319/.413/.623.

Quarter Pole update, top 100 prospects

#5 Anthony Volpe- great speed but big slumps have his OPS around .700 and his BA at .203. Starting to show signs of breaking out
#54 Oswaldo Peraza- solid SB numbers, 5HR, but slumping offense. Great glove, though, and is one MIF injury from a promotion
#55 Jasson Dominguez- really hot May has his OPS over .800 as a 19 yr old in long season. Should be in Hudson Valley by year's end
#88 Austin Wells- Absolutely demolishing the ball in A+ ball. OPS over 1.000 with 9 steals. He is also showing he has the athleticism to stick behind the plate. Jury is out on if he can, but if he does, he will be a top 10 prospect
#90 Ken Waldichuk- Promotion to AAA didn't phase him. ERA sub 2, K rate around 14 per 9. Not sure why he is so low, but good chance he is in the bigs shortly

Siegler has been really turning it on. I'd protect him at the end of the year. Josh Bruex I think will be moved at the deadline, too many catchers in the system right now.

Volpe .302 with an .850OPS in June. Starting to heat up

Volpe's season line is now respectable at a .790OPS, 11HR, 33SB. He has gone nuclear since May 31. .898OPS 12 steals in June, 1.271 3 steals in July.

Dominguez had a terrible April, a ridiculous May, okay June. OPS at .792 with 8HR and 16SB.

Waldichuk continues to be nearly unhittable in AAA but his command has trailed off. He's walked 17 and hit 7 batters in 39.1IP. He has struck out 55 in that time and has a BAA of .200, so he has been effective. Ultimately, I do not think he comes up until his command improves. No need to rush him

Peraza has continued to plug along at SS in AAA. He just turned 22 2 weeks ago. He has 10HR and 16SB already. His May and June were TERRIBLE. His June was awesome with a .303/.379/.513 line.

Austin Wells is killing baseballs. He just returned after a 6 week absence. In 28 games, his slash line at High A is .323/.429/.576. If he continues his great run, he will likely see time in AA before the season is over

Trey Sweeney is starting to bounce back. His May was absolutely terrible with an OPS of .503. His June was more like his talent .270/.363/.472. He has been a surprise on the basepaths with 16 steals.

Hayden Wesneski was absolutely dominant until his start on May 31. He got smoked that day and has been off since then. 21ER in 25.2IP. He was right behind Sears and Schmidt as the "next man up" for injury, but I think Waldichuk has now jumped him

Yoendrys Gomez came back from elbow surgery last month. He has thrown 10IP 1ER 9K 1BB and 8H.

Everson Pereira cooled off from his insane hot start, but he still has a solid line for 2022. He has shown good patience with 30BB in 67 games, but he has struck out 80 times in those games. He has stolen 15 bases in that time as well.

Luis Medina continues to show maddening inconsistency. First two months were rough, but he caught fire in June and only walked 7 in 26.2IP while striking out 34. He then followed that up with a stinker 3 days ago

Assuming Jones signs, the system is getting pretty deep right now. Here's where I think the top 10 stacks up.

Peraza has been on fire for two months after slumping hard prior to June 1. June saw an .890OPS and July is at .997OPS. He is up to 13HR and 24SBs on the season. He is only 22 in AAA and is on fire now. He would be a big league option now if the Yanks weren't already dealing with a glut of MIFs in Torres, IKF and Lemahieu. He is the likeliest to go if the Yanks get a player with more than 1 year of control (ie Castillo)

Volpe is on fire. He homered in both ends of a DHer yesterday and might be primed for a promotion to AAA when the Yanks deal off Peraza. His season OPS is up to .835 with 15HR and 37SBs while cutting his K rate and upping the walk rate. This kid looks like a future star.

Jasson Dominguez is on fire. He brought his season OPS up to .813 in low A, got promoted to High A and in 7 games there has an .870OPS. On the year, 10HR and 21SB for the 19 year old who is just tapping into his power.

Austin Wells has reached his third level this year after a promotion to AA. He just turned 23 2 weeks ago as well. His OPS between A and A+ was near 1.000. In 16 AA games, he has held his own with a .823OPS. The lefty power hitter is likely destined for a corner OF spot but is still playing catcher at this stage. He has the most advanced bat in the system and will likely be in the bigs at some point in 2023

Ken Waldichuk has finally run into some resistance in July. His ERA in July is a gaudy 6.52 with 12 hits in 9.2IP. He has still struck out 15 in those 9.2IP, but he has finally hit a bump in the road. His stuff is good enough to dig him out of it, the question is will his command be good enough for starting or will he transition to a multi inning swiss army knife.

Trey Sweeney has found another gear after struggling for the first 2 months of the season. .835OPS in June, .891 in July. Power stroke coming now with 10HR and good speed with 19 steals. He is coming on at the right time, but is blocked at AA with Volpe there. Sweeney is still playing SS, although everyone expects him to shift to 3b

Hayden Wesneski got through his rough patch and has been absolutely dominant in AAA in July. He is likely next on the list of callups. He throws a high 90s sinker and a wipeout slider, something that could be used in the long relief role in NY

Yoendrys Gomez is burning up High A, although with the Yanks holding onto him with kid gloves. After missing 2020 due to covid and most of 2021 and the beginning of 22 with injury, the Yanks have handled him with kid gloves. He is in High A, has had 6 starts but only 15IP. Dominant numbers. The leash should come off a bit these final two months.

Everson Pereira has been killing the ball in the minors for someone so young and has earned a promotion to AA. He turned 21 in April and has 10HR, 19 steals and an OPS of .805 between High A and AA. He is starting to see the K rate drop and the BB rate rise. As the closest OF prospect to the majors, he is flashing all 5 tools.

Luis Medina continues to mow down hitters in AA with the same issues. Crazy high K rates. Crazy high walk rates. 40 walks in 72IP with 81K. Batters cannot hit him as right now the BAA is .179. He is Rule V eligible this offseason and should finallly be transitioned to the pen where he could absolutely dominate. Regularly sitting over 100mph and topping out at 103, he could see the velocity rise in shorter stints

So the Yanks get to keep their big prospects save if they jump back into the Soto or get into the Ohtani sweeps.

Volpe up to .831OPS on the year. 31 doubles, 41 steals, 18 bombs. Kid is demolishing AA. Should be in AAA next year and fast tracked to the bigs. He’s only 21.

Dominguez up to .836OPS in High A. Solid CF defense, 12HR, 34 steals. Kid is killing it in August as a 19 year old. He will be in AA next year and one small step from the bigs. He’s been absolutely on fire since the trade deadline

Peraza has cooled off. OPS now .751. Counting stats still solid, but his August has been awful. 17 HR and 30+ steals in AAA. He’s still one of the top prospects in baseball and should be in the big next year.

Austin Wells cooled off on promotion to AA. OPS near .800, but not over the 1.000 mark he had between A+ and AA. He’s shown enough to either stick at AA for 23 or earn a promotion to AAA from the top next year. He very well may be a MLB option come mid season next year.

Oswaldo Cabrera got the call up to the bigs. He couldn’t hit his first 8 games but has been mashing the last few. Defense has been stellar with some web gems. He’s put himself into the mix for next year for sure and he’s got quite the MiLB pedigree. He will likely be a Marwin replacement for 2023.

Pereira has an OPS of .799 between High A and AA as a true 21 yr old. 15 doubles, 8 triples, 13HR and 20 steals in 95 games. He’s been good enough in AA to potentially see AAA out the gate in 23, but will likely start in AA next year. He’s a true defensive OFer who mostly needs to work on contact.

Trey Sweeney has had a weird year. He had a .503 OPS in May. His other months .851, .835, .827 and .763. He has 13 bombs, 4 triples and 26 steals while playing better than expected defense at SS. Still likely to be a 3b long term, he should see AA next year

Spencer Jones has 3HR and 9 steals in 16 games as a pro with an OPS near 1.000. He’s in long season A right now and will likely start there in 23, but his potential is very high and his contact issues that he improved on in his final year in college continue to be trending positive. I’d love to see what he can do in High A
