Yes or no, pretty simple question.
I did answer, but you must have missed it. Not surprising.
When you say it's gonna happen now
    When exactly do you mean?

I think a lot depends on how much money you want to allocate on the pen, and Cashman has spent more and gotten better pen results, for the most part.

We spent big on Foulke and Kimbrel. I'm not sure we did on anyone else.

So you think he would only be happy with the money and not with having a long career that never included a losing record and winning 4 WS?

It’s easier to spend on a bullpen when you don’t inherit a bloated payroll filled with large contracts..

I did not say that, but you are good at misunderstanding statements and reading things into them that are not even implied.

With all the money Cashman has thrown at the pen, you expect them to have the best, and the have since 1998- by a lot. The Sox placed 7th.

    Pen fWAR since 1998:
    123 NYY
    99 LAD
    95 OAK
    90 CWS
    87 CLE
    81 SDP
    81 BOS

The gap has narrowed since 2003, but the Sox are 10th since 2003. Even during the glory years from 2004 to 2018, the Sox only had the 8th best pen by fWAR led by...

    14.0 Papelbon
    6.1 Uehara
    5.8 Kimbrel
    4.0 Tazawa
    2.9 Bard
    2.9 Okajima
    2.3 Timlin & Barnes
    2.2 Miller
    1.8 Kelly
    1.3 Foulke

Not a lot of big contracts in this bunch, but 4 rings.

I answered what I was thinking. If it wasn't as complete as you wanted, so be it.

Yes, if someone said you could have a streak with no losing records, he'd say yes, but that's not all there is to the question about records and rings.

He could repeat Cashman's record but with 10 rings, but be fired for killing someone. Would he want that?

Focusing on just one thing is a vague question that deserves a vague answer, IMO.

Well, when you said "now that's funny" it implied that he wouldn't have been happy to have a career as successful as Cashman's.

For all the crap he takes on this board, that Cherington did string together some good bullpens. Uehara was Plan C - not Plan B; that was Andy Bailey - at closer in 2013…

How many years from 2012 to 2015 was our bullpen good?
Championships since purchase by John Henry group: Red Sox 4 Yankees 1

The Red Sox are 8-1 in their last 9 postseason games against the Yankees.

    It was funny, to me.

Being a Yankee fan, I'd think you'd have noticed how much Cashman gets roasted alive. I'm not sure anyone would like that part of his "success," either- or the no rings in how many years?

Not that Bloom is avoiding getting roaster, here in Boston.

They were average at best those years. At worst, they were the absolute worst in the league (2015).

    2013 pen:
    12th FIP
    12th fWAR
    13th LOB%

2012 had some very good names in the pen; many just didn't do very good, that year.

    Melancon
    Andrew Miller
    Tazawa
    Breslow
    Aceves
    Atchison
    Albers
    F Morales

    2013's pen did very well
    Uehara 1.09
    Breslow 1.81
    Tazawa 3.16
    Miller 2.64
    Bailey 3.77
Workman, Aceves, Morales, Alex Wilson, Britton...

    2014 was pretty good
    Uehara 2.52
    Badenhop 2.29
    Miller 2.34
    Taz 2.86
    Wright 2.57
    Breslow, Layne, Hembree

2015, pretty bad, despite Uehara, Robbie Ross, Ogando, Rich Hill & Layne doing okay.
    Mujica 3.90
    Joe kelly 4.11
    Mortenson
    Bard

Perhaps because umpires are calling strikes on an increasing number of pitches outside the strike zone.

Hitting overall should rebound if called strikes were limited to pitches inside the strike zone outlined on gamecasts.

    Make pitcher throw strikes.
