It's not the same profile. Casas is a big boy with lots of power. The knack on him coming up was that he wasn't showing enough power and that he was too patient. That was definitely not Dalbec's issue. Dalbec was never a top 50 prospect. Chavis was never a top 50 prospect. Casas is legit.

Well said....we're looking for high ceiling kids, not a utility player.

If we don't add an OF'er, I'd keep Pham:

    LF: Dugo & Pham
    CF: Kike
    RF: Dugo & Ref
Pham and or Ref as DH definitely does not make me excited. Not the path to "we're going to be way better".

It's strange that he has no doubles, yet- just 5 HRs for 5 XBHs.

If he can stay near .365 for an OBP and hit 5 Hrs every 75 PAs, he'll be a huge plus, no matter what his BA of K% is.
17Ks is fine if you also have 16 BBs

Yeah, I was gonna say, that's a sweet ratio.

They don't excite me either, but if we end up improving at enough other positions, we may still be fine, and if healthy, this OF alignment should be better than this year's.

I'd be fine with 34 K's if the OBP and HRs are high enough.

I wouldn't even pencil in Refsnyder as making the opening day roster. He's been a lifelong backup for a reason. He's been a brightspot for a miserable team. Don't expect it to carry over guys.

Maybe don't expect, but don't dismiss either.

Not expecting it to carry over and not giving him a chance next year are not the only 2 choices.

Not counting on him to start is a good plan. Counting on him to make platoon in RF or LF or DH would be a reasonable plan, as long as you plan for the chance he returns back into a pumpkin.

He would have to really suck in ST'ing, or get hurt, to not make the opening day roster. Whether he stays there long, is more debatable.

Others have said similar things about Schreiber, and with the volatility of fringe RP'ers being so high, I could certainly see him not staying on the 26 all 2023, but for now, he's got a slot and has to work his way off it. He'll make the opening day 26, too.

Being "dismissive" isn't the same as "not penciling in" or "not expecting it." He'll have to earn the playing time next Spring. Maybe he gets a bench spot and produces in April and gets more at bats over time.

I never said it was. Some people like to infer things on here though.
