    2022 MLB Draft

Maybe not as exciting as getting #4 last year, but Sox pick 24th on Sunday night and then do have the re-do for Jud Fabian from last year early in the 2nd round that begins on Monday.

At #24, it's hardly worth speculating who we might get.
When you say it's gonna happen now
    When exactly do you mean?

I was high on Rocker last year, but more of that was based on his earlier years and the recent successes of Vanderbilt pitching and not on his comparatively lackluster senior season as a Commodore…

At 24, I can talk myself into a reclamation project like that, especially when you have the Fabian pick right after.

A lot of mock drafts have Fabian going late 2nd round now. Whoops. Tough break, kid.

I am hopeful that Jett Williams falls to us at 24, but remain doubtful we get that lucky.

If so, like toman at 24.

I'm hoping for Spencer Jones. Please no Kumar rocker

Lot of chatter about the Red Sox showing interest in rocker.

He went 3rd overall. Rangers were able to draft Leiter AND Rocker.

    Red Sox 1st Round:

    Mikey Romero

Have seen him listed as "Marcelo Mayer lite." He's a HS SS from CA, but is likely to move to 2B. Good hit tool, LHB, below average power.

    Red Sox 2nd Round:

    Cutter Coffey

Generally much lower ranked nationally. Two way player that was announced as a SS, HS/CA. Strong arm means he probably moves to 3B or OF. Good raw power, but questionable hit tool.

    Roman Anthony

HS that currently plays CF. Sox believe he can stick there, but scouts think corner OF. HUGE power. Hit 450' shot with wood bat at Coors in HS AS game last year.

    3rd - 10th round happens later today.

    Mikey Romero

    ESPN's #56 ... Kiley McDaniel

He can hit and play up the middle, coming with a track record of contact, but his arm has been inconsistent and his swing isn't geared to tap into his power right now.
    Athletic #40 ... Keith Law

Romero is a bat-first high school position player who probably gets hurt a bit by the presence of similar guys with standout hit tools like Termarr Johnson in this draft. He recognizes pitch types and balls/strikes well, with a tiny stride and compact swing that produces contact without power. He’s a solid defender at short with enough arm to stay there. For a team that believes they can unlock power in a player who already has feel to hit, he’s an ideal candidate, but I do wonder about his ability to adjust to better offspeed stuff given the lack of any stride and the way his front foot rolls over through contact.
Fun fact: Roman Anthony went to Stoneman Douglas HS in Florida ... wow

That too. Living in FL, my first reaction is to the person the school is named after. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marjory_Stoneman_Douglas
