The 6th game of the '86 WS was reminiscent of what we've seen so much this season. A reliever(C. Schiraldi) who easily got the 1st two outs, but couldn't get the 3rd out. In fact, I've posted a couple of times on the GT that if innings were comprised of 2 outs instead of 3, the SOX would have the best BP in MLB.

I was 16 in '75, and I think more emotional than in '78. They both stung like hell.
The whole ending to the '78 season that led up to that game made it way more meaningful than a 7 game series in '75, so I think I feel the same way.
'86 hurt, too, but not like '75 and '78.
How about the most wonderful moment in the last 50 years of Red Sox history that did not lead to a ring?
1. The Dave Henderson HR v the Angels
2. The 1972 season where we finished 1/2 game behind detroit due to a strike induced unbalanced schedule
3. The Fisk HR
4. The Dave henderson HR in the top of the 10th inning of game 6 v the Mets to put the Sox up

Game 6 of the '75 WS had 3 awesome moments:
1) Carbo's 3-run homer after swinging like a rusty gate on the previous pitch.
2) Evans' web gem catch of Morgan's long shot to right resulting in a double play.
3) And, of course, Fisk's game winning HR that hit the foul pole.
How about J.D. Drew's grand slam in 2007 against Cleveland? Probably saved that series. Sox had almost blown a bases loaded no outs situation.
From 1946 thru 1986 the SOX were in 4 WS. All 4 of those WS went 7 games.
In '46 Wiliams played with an injured arm; in '67 Lonborg pitched with insufficient rest; in '75 Rice didn't play; and in '86 the SOX simply blew game 6.
