Adding Soto and Dugo should help the team get younger and healthier.

Health is an interesting thing. Rizzo looks healthy, but they need to spell him when DJ gets back. The guys are 36 and cannot be daily warriors out there. Cabrera being healthy and raking makes things so much easier. This’ll move DJ into the role he belongs in once he’s healthy, a 90 game a year (on average) super utility guy. Once Peraza comes back, I think you’ll see a lot of rest/defensive replacement/pinch running opps that’ll make the team more athletic and healthier too.

The interesting wild card here is Stanton. If he can just make contact, then he becomes a viable option rather than a throwaway piece. Rotating DJ, Rizzo and Stanton through the 1B, DH, bench roles should keep them fresh

I think Stanton will continue to be streaky as hell. But his hot streaks can do damage. If he OPS's .800 I think you have to take that.
Championships since purchase by John Henry group: Red Sox 4 Yankees 1

The Red Sox are 8-1 in their last 9 postseason games against the Yankees.

So many of your key players are 31 or older:
    35 LeMahieu
    34 Rizzo & Stanton (Berti)
    33 Cole, Stroman
    32 Judge
    31 Rodon, Holmes (Trevino)

That's about a third of your top 20-24 players. It might even be half of your top 14-16 players.

Adding Soto and Dugo helps with the age thing, but both have one year remaining of control, so it may only help for one year.

Many of the oldest players on the Yanks still have 2+ yrs left of control.
When you say it's gonna happen now
    When exactly do you mean?

Yes, and while you added a couple younger guys, you still added two older players, too: Stroman and Berti.

You still have a lot of old or older key players- some with long injury histories.

" That's baseball, Suzyn." The inimitable John Sterling. A true original.
    Old school is good school.

On John Sterling's retirement day, Yankee superstar Aaron Judge gifted him with a beautiful golden sombrero.

We also have quite possibly the deepest MLB ready position player crop of true prospects this side of Baltimore. Dominguez, Peraza, Jones, Pereira in the wings with Volpe and Wells starting already.

My bet for 25 is we re-sign Soto to a ridiculous contract. We let Grisham and Verdugo walk. Dominguez starts in CF, Judge in LF, Soto in RF. Stanton stays at DH. Pereira becomes the 4th OF. We let Rizzo walk and probably have Wells and DJ take on 1b with Wells also being backup C for Trevino. Peraza slots into 2b when Torres walks. Volpe and Cabrera keep the left side of the infield solid assuming Cabrera continues to hit well enough. If we can re-sign Soto, our offense should be good.

On the pitching side, everyone returns to the rotation. Cole-Cortes-Stroman-Rodon-Schmidt. The pen will lose Holmes and Kahnle and will need an investment in a proven closer.

Good summary, and this might happen. I'm not sure you sign Soto AND get a top closer, but 2025 does look pretty good.

You need your old guys to stay healthy, still, right?

We need everyone to stay healthy. Dominguez and Peraza are early twenties and out until June

Pretty funny.. Boone ejected yesterday due to a fan yelling at the ump

Wendelstedt gave Boone the hook after hearing someone's objection from the direction of the Yankees' dugout. The YES television broadcast had its camera on Boone, who was looking away and not saying anything.

Boone sprinted out to protest to Wendelstedt, insisting that a fan behind the dugout -- not him or another Yankee -- spoke up.

Yanks bats have gone quiet again. Judge started to take better swings. Torres looks entirely lost. Verdugo is rolling over on everything.

Yanks lead the league in double plays. Two more tonight with bases loaded. Also 11 guys LOB. That'll do it
