Come for the starting pitching; try to stay awake for the offense.

I doubt one will see worse base running by an opponent the rest of the season.
So far, Robles has been the SOX most productive player.
Nice play. As the defense gets better, the offense gets worse. Interesting.
Let's go Jansen!

Jansen looks like the old Jansen, again.
Martin, too.

Nice win of the game and series against an opponent with many of the same issues as the Sox through almost 25% of the schedule.
Now it goes to 4 with the Rays, normally a challenge, but their results to date are a game +1/2 worse so far. Would be nice to take the series 3-1.
Bello back in rotation is more encouraging than Pivetta was. Jansen and Martin , as Moon notes, are looking better too. Duran and O'Neill coming off the high of April's hitting/running and solo HR binge.
Two much-needed, excellent wins which, however, do not--as everyone has already said--assuage our angst about the hitting. Those three runs depended on the dropped fly in CF and Rafaela's miracle double which actually was catchable. It was the Nats who had the 2 run dinger.
Sox are now 2 games over .500 which, all things considered, is semi-miraculous and primarily due to the pitching.
The fans, however, are not impressed and are finally voting with their absent fannies. So far--and it is definitely early enough for cold weather to be a factor--the Sox attendance is the lowest in at least 25 years. It does not help that the sightlines for the fans are among the worst in MLB. Fenway is antiquated.
But my guess is that two biggest factors are the absence of star power (except for Devers, these guys are no-names) and, not quite as important, marginal won-loss record for the 3d season in a row.
While the Rays did win 5 in a row, not long ago, nobody can say we are playing a red hot team.
They have lost 3 of their last 4.

This is a Red Sox baseball site, but for anyone who watched the Bruins putrid 3rd period, you saw total offensive ineptitude, 8 minutes in the PBox , a 50-50 call on interference in the midst of a missed cross check penalty next to the goal.
Bruins are boiled like the Maine cockroaches of the sea that they are.
