Oh my god. That man has some balls. Kanye is the freakin man. He is right. I have seen videos of new orleans and all through the streets theres black people, everywhere. I started to realize it after awhile. It's kind of sickening. These are unprivelidged people, who had almost no way to leave the city and were pretty much forced to stay. Now they lost what little they have, and they have to resort to looting, and the government hasn't done shit until yesterday. Fucking appaling.
wow, go Kanye. that was awsome. he does have some balls.
I love the guy in my avatar! he's the hottest man alive!
This notion is absolutely ridiculous. I can understand and condone taking food from a grocery store to get by in the interim time it takes for relief to get set up. But electronics, clothes, jewelry, trash bags full of sneakers, etc.? People are just out for some free shit.Originally Posted by BigPapiEnFuego
What's fucking appalling is the fact that blaming the President is okay, but god forbid we blame the people responsible for the crime. There are roving armed gangs shooting at evacuation/medivac helicopters. Yesterday, shooters were keeping 80 people (fire fighters and their families) held at bay in a building, shooting at anyone trying to leave. I guess its the President's fault that people can't control themselves when the law enforcement system is occupied with other things.Fucking appaling
EDIT: I acknowledge that the relief effort has moved slowly, and so does the President. Congress has already passed a $10.5 billion aid package and the President signed it immediately. As for calling in the National Guard to stabilize the area? Before this, it wasn't necessary because lawlessness wasn't this bad after previous hurricanes.
Of course there are going to be some crazy people, but that whole thing could of been eliminated if troops were there the day after. It wasn't until like 3 days later anything arrived. If they are going to be slow in responding to a fucking disaster, then they are going to deal with the consiquences. I don't blame people for looting whatever they can, although it may be wrong. If you leave people around stuff they can take without anyone from keeping them to do so, then they will take it. It's human nature.
That "take what you can while nobody is looking" mentality is so fucked up its not even funny. The sad part is that everyone who got something for free will pay for it in the end, and so will you. All that merchandise is insured. Claims will be made. Insurance premiums will go up and so will prices. For everyone. You, me, everyone. No free lunches baby.Originally Posted by BigPapiEnFuego
That is why they called for an evacuation of the city. They knew that the system would be shut down for a while. Calling for troops the next day? The President would have been lambasted for overreacting. Has it been handled perfectly? No. But, its a crisis, and a major catastrophe to hit a major city. No precedents.
Using the whole "if the guard showed up sooner" is bull shit. People are in charge of themselves. To say that those people in N.O. needed the National Guard to control their behavior is bullshit. Help did come slow because they didn't and couldn't predict the leavy's failing. If only the Hurricane came through it would have been really bad, but with all the water it became one of the worst natural disasters ever in the US. The only thing stealing TV's, sneakers, clothing, jewelery, and other non-essential material objects did was fuel the rasicsts with their anti-black hatred. Did help come slow? Yes. Was it because of racism, NO. Most of the people down there are just trying to survive. Others are tainting the blood of the many that have died. Blaming the government, giving excuses to the people shooting and stealing. Steal essential items... food, water, diapers, tents, sleeping bags, bug spray, ect ect, but to steal TV's and other material items that do them no good? Have you seen the supermarkets? They are trashed... People smashed thigns on the walls, broke all windows, trashed offices, ect. What good does that do? Nothing, except like I mentioned early give fuel to asshole racisists. Most people down there are doing the right thing, but the sideways media in this country is only going to report on the people that make themselves look bad. There is a lot of good going on down there, there are people helping others, and working together, but the media only reports on the bad. Why? Well because the ones commiting these crimes allow them to by commiting the crimes. The short term help is going to do little, it's the help that the government and the private charities will do for years to come. Many children will go to college for free, many new homes will be built (much better than exsisting homes, people will recieve thousands in their bank accounts, ect. This is a team effort. You can not expect the government to save us all, that is not why we have one. If you where getting shot while trying to save people or dispence food/water would you continue? If you had people coming to help you not because they had to because they cared woudn't you be thankful instead of complaining the whole time? Things will not and can not be "nice" or "OK" during times like this. The fact is something really bad happen to those people, some have made it worst, other better. The fact is that no one could have stopped the storm from coming, no one could have convinced all to leave, no one could have known the leavy's would break, no one can make this all better for everyone in the first 5 days of 5 years. People have and will die, people will and have loose everything, some people will gain it back, some will never, some have lost family, some.... I think you get the point. There are NO GUARENTEES IN LIFE!

You have a very distorted definition of 'truth.'* Kanye West speaks the truth(calls Bush out) *
When we are born, we cry, that we are come
To this great stage of fools.
Yeah, I agree. Blaming Bush for anything, even a tragedy like this, is becoming a national pastime.Originally Posted by One Red Seat

the look on mike myers and chris tucker's faces is just priceless after kanya had said that. the speechless "did he just fucking say that" look
"See what you have to ask yourself is what kind of person are you? Are you the kind that sees signs, sees miracles? Or do you believe that people just get lucky? Or, look at the question this way: Is it possible that there are no coincidences?"
It's the media! The brain wash everyone into hating Bush! Wake up he won the popular vote by 3% something Clinton never did! Obviously there are more people in this country that like Bush than the other chose (Kerry, Gore, ect). If this was Clinton the only difference would be that Clinton would be wowing us with touching speaches, but doing no more or less about whats going on. Although the media would be loving Clinton for everything he would do.
10.5 Billion toward relief!? Thats doing nothing? That is a lot of something!

If you ask me, the government's response has been fast as hell. It took them what, all of 36 hours to get people in there to help? And 72 hours for the food to arrive.
I'm sorry, but 3 days is not long enough for anyone to starve to death. No looting was necessary.
I say if those "refugees" had it so bad before the storm (poor, nowhere to go, farting out 10 kids each and waiting for the state to support them) then it's too bad Katrina didn't do us all a favor and wash all those stupid lazy bastards out to sea. Black and white.
I have to say chris tucker's reactions was hilarious.Originally Posted by riverside sluggers

100% correct. The biggest excuse I hear for people not being able to get out is because they had no transportation, or were poor. I've been watching a little bit of the news, do you see how many cars are floating there. Just amazing.Originally Posted by RedSoxRooter
Yeah, 8 years of booming economy was nothing. Clinton has been, hands down, the best president of my lifetime. If no better candidate comes forward after Bush than what is currently out there, I'm totally voting for Hillary if she runs.Originally Posted by element1151
