True, but that would not have been the first time that the closest ump to the play was actually too close to it to see what happened. The right call was made and that is really all I care about. I don't care which ump made it. The closest ump might have been focused on the ball at that point and the ball was not where Devers and the runner were.
If your point is that the closest ump did not know that was an infraction, I actually don't think that is what happened. I think the closest ump's attention was just focused elsewhere.

Seemed like our hardest hit balls were for outs, and some of our hits were cheesy.
Wright is making a case to start. Pom is running himself out of a slot.
I thought Betts was going to start. Then, Pedey backs out at the last minute.
Let's smoke 'em tomorrow.
I'll be there. Maybe that will help.
Cheers Genitals!

"It's also a simple and indisputable fact that WAR isn't the be-all end-all in valuations, especially in real life. Wanna know why? Because an ace in run-prevention for 120 innings means more often than not, a sub-standard pitcher covering for the rest of the IP that pitcher fails to provide. You can't see value in a vacuum when a player does not provide full-time production."
This was a throwaway game the instant Pom took the mound. It was possible to win, but the odds were against us. Mookie not playing made it a little worse.
Agree moonslav should start tonight's game thread. Good idea.
What a horseshit of a game, nothing went right. Mookie is sorely missed.
You simply cannot have your best player on the bench against a very good team and expect to win.
When is Mookie coming back? WoTF knows?
Day 1 5/27 (ATL)- he's experiencing a little soreness in his side so we're giving him a day off.
Day 2 5/28 (TOR)- he's still a little tender. It's no big deal.
Day 3 5/29 (TOR) - We're going to give him one more day off. Better safe than sorry.
Day 4 5/30 (TOR) - We're going to give him one more day of rest. If we were playing Houston today he'd be in there.
Day 5 5/31 (HOU) - He should be fine tomorrow.
Day 6. Today - Who knows? What's that crack medical team going to tell us next? That he slept with the baby wrong?
...and people wonder why some of us don't think DD was being completely forthcoming with his statement about why Hanely was DFA'd?
It's a mere moment in a man's life between the All-Star game and the Old Timer's game.
