Last year the bargain basement approach worked, but to win a WS, or at least get close takes money spent on keeping quality players, (Eillsbury, drew) or signing new players. This year the sox won't make the playoffs, papi had a monster season last year, doubtful he repeats. Grady Sizemore is a complete bust, Bradley plays good defense, but his bat and speed is no match for Ellsbury. Bogarts should be a back up to Stephen drew and middlebrooks. The sox just plain suck

Well now we're seeing just what it costs not to re-sign a guy like Ellsbury. It's not just money; it comes down to wins vs. losses when a player who makes a difference is involved.

Well, if you're gonna start to turn over your roster to younger players that seem to have good careers ahead, I can't think of a better year to do it than after winning the WS. Realistically, even if we had the exact same roster as last year, the Sox weren't going to repeat, so why not get younger and get your future stars on board now?
