What Really Grinds My Gears 2.0

Let's see how long this one lasts before becoming infected by the plague...

I really like this thread, and talking about our lives with each other, so thought I would give this a shot.

I'm usually pretty laid back, but I get bugged by bad drivers.

    Slow in the passing lane.
    No turn signals.
Moving into the left lane to take a wide right turn.

    Just a few gear-grinders.
When you say it's gonna happen now
    When exactly do you mean?

I concur with all of those. I also get bugged by people that come to a complete stop to make a right turn and people that cut corners when turning left (when I'm in the lane they cut into).

100% - one of my biggest pet peeves of them all.
Championships since purchase by John Henry group: Red Sox 4 Yankees 1

The Red Sox are 8-1 in their last 9 postseason games against the Yankees.

It appears some don't even realize the issue they are causing.

I have come to the conclusion that I'm the only person on the road that knows how to drive correctly.

Considering I'm moving to Massachusetts in 6 months, I should probably adopt that mindset as well...

Also, you need to disconnect your turn signals. In Boston, using them is considered a sign of weakness and spotlights you as obvious prey...

That explains why most MA plates I see in CT don't use them...

I'm still deciding on whether I have a car or not. I probably will need one up there, but I don't want one

I am grateful that my commute to work (when working on site) is about 12 minutes each way, all on secondary roads. Also, I am at work by 6:30 and home by 3:00, avoiding heavy traffic times. I don't think I could handle dealing with rush hour traffic every day.

When I moved to Mexico my drivers license expired. When we moved to Texas I had to take the drivers test again. The guy told me I was the best driver he’d ever given the test to.

    Boy, did I fool him,

LOL Good for you. That said, it would be kind of stupid for anyone to drive like a maniac when taking the driver's test.

I am extremely patient. I think that makes me a good driver (at least a very safe driver). There are many on the road who would disagree with my self-assessment, but that's because they have no patience. It's not like I'm putting along under the speed limit either.

Most if not all people think of themselves as good drivers, yet somehow accidents happen anyway.

The big problem is this level of self-assessment is a big obstacle in self-driving cars. Yes a lot of people are good drivers, but I struggle to believe any of us can do a better job than a computer.

And yes, there are several flaws with self-driving cars. All of them can be worked out, and likely will be. Once people accept that computers will actually be better and safer drivers than people...
